Gemini
21 May to 21 June. The twins: an air sign that wants to know, ruled by Mercury, the planet the tradition associates with speech, learning and exchange. This page is the reference, written plainly, followed by the one thing most sign pages will not tell you.
What the tradition actually says
Western astrology reads a Gemini Sun as an identity organised around finding out: several interests at once, quick uptake, and a real need for new information coming in. The air element gives the mind its distance from the thing it is looking at; the mutable modality gives adaptability, which is why the tradition describes Gemini as the messenger rather than the judge. Mercury's rulership adds the facility with words: the question asked well, the joke that lands, the two sides of an argument held at once.
The honest shadow readings in the classical sources are restlessness that abandons a subject just as it gets difficult, a talent for talking that outruns the talent for meaning it, and a doubleness the twins are named for: two opinions, two moods, two versions of the same story. The tradition does not call this dishonesty; it calls it what happens when the mind moves faster than the person.
Common misreadings
Gemini is not "two-faced"; the twins are the tradition's image for a mind that genuinely holds two things at once, which is a strength in a negotiator and a strain in a partner. It is not shallow; depth arrives by returning to a thing rather than by staying with it, which looks like inconsistency and is not. And a Sun sign describes what you are consciously building, not the whole person: your Moon, your rising sign and thirty other placements say the rest, which is why we calculate all of them.
The part other sign pages leave out
If you are a Gemini Sun in Western astrology, your Sun in the Vedic system is probably in Taurus.

Western astrology anchors its zodiac to the seasons; Vedic astrology anchors its to the stars. The two rulers have drifted about 24.2 degrees apart over two thousand years, so if you were born between 21 May and 14 June, your Vedic Sun sits in Taurus, in one of the lunar mansions Krittika, Rohini and Mrigashira. Born 15 June to 21 June, you keep Gemini in both systems, in the mansion of . Neither ruler is wrong. They are measuring differently, and any product that shows you only one is choosing tidiness over the whole truth.
Those dates are 2026's. The Sun reaches the sidereal boundary at 07:06 UTC on 15 June, so a birth on that day is settled by the hour and the place, and the split moves by about a day every seventy years as the two zodiacs drift apart.

Questions people ask
Is Gemini compatible with my sign?
Sun-sign compatibility is the postcard version: two placements out of the eighty a real pair comparison reads. The traditions also disagree with each other about pairs, which we show rather than hide. The honest answer needs both charts, and the free calculator is where it starts.
What is a Gemini Moon or rising?
A Gemini Moon reads as the emotional pattern (feelings that need to be talked through and change as they are spoken), and Gemini rising as the first impression of quickness and curiosity, and the frame of the whole chart. Same sign, three different jobs. Your own combination is on your free chart.
Which is right, my Western sign or my Vedic one?
Both. They are two internally consistent rulers laid against the same sky, about 24.2 degrees apart. What matters is knowing which one a reading is using, and what each was designed to do well.
We read charts for pattern and coherence, not prediction. Nothing here tells you what will happen, and nothing here tells you who you are; it shows a structure and leaves the judgement with you.
