6 Heaven
Six Metal, the star of the northwest and of early autumn: the trigram Qian, heaven. This page is the reference for the sixth of the nine, the star the tradition reads as the father.
What the tradition says
Nine Star Ki reads Six Metal as heaven, the star of order, authority and principle: disciplined, responsible, clear-thinking, and holding itself to standards it expects of others too. The tradition associates it with leadership, strong ethics, a long memory for who kept their word, and a natural readiness to take charge. Its element is Metal, its direction northwest, its season the beginning of autumn, and its trigram Qian, the creative, which the I Ching reads as unceasing force.
The honest shadow is rigidity and pride: difficulty admitting a mistake, impatience with mess, and a coldness or superiority that others meet before they meet the loyalty. The tradition says Six Metal is at its best leading something with clear rules and real stakes, and that softness has to be practised deliberately.
The three positions
As a principal star, the self people deal with: Heaven stands for order, authority and principle. You are disciplined, responsible, clear-thinking and hold yourself to high standards. You take charge naturally and expect competence from others. You have strong ethics and a long memory for who kept their word. The risk is rigidity and pride: difficulty admitting mistakes, impatience with mess, and coming across as cold or superior. You are at your best leading something with clear rules and real stakes, and you need to practise softness deliberately.
As a character star, what runs underneath: Emotionally, you are contained and self-reliant, with a private tenderness that few people see. You dislike showing vulnerability and would rather solve a feeling than sit in it. You need respect more than affection, though you quietly want both. Criticism cuts deep even when you appear unbothered. In close relationships you are loyal and protective, and you must learn to say that you need help before it is too late.
As a surface star, the first impression: People meet you as authoritative, composed and slightly formal. You are easy to take seriously and hard to get close to. Under pressure you become precise and controlled: you tighten, take command and expect everyone to follow. It is reassuring in a crisis and intimidating in a conversation. Your first-impression strength is instant credibility.

In the Ki year 2026, from Li Chun 2026 to Li Chun 2027, everyone whose principal star is 6 is in house 1, Water · winter, the seed. The quietest year in the cycle. Energy is low and life pulls inward. This is a year for rest, reflection, planning and letting go of what ended in the previous cycle. Little you start now will show results for a while, and that is fine. Avoid big launches, major purchases and forcing decisions. Do go deep: study, therapy, retreats, honest conversations with yourself. Keep spending low and health in view. What you plant in this year sets the direction of the next eight.

Every 6 Heaven on earth is in the same house this year, and moves to the next on the same day.
In Vedic astrology your periods are your own: they run from the Moon's degree at your birth and nobody else's clock matches. In Nine Star Ki the cycle is the world's: the year star descends by one at every Li Chun, so the whole population of 6 Heavens moves from house 1 to house 2 together on or about 4 February 2027. The tradition reads the house as the weather of the year and says the weather is the same for everyone with the same star, which is a claim the other nine systems here never make. We show it beside them and do not count the shared turning as a finding about you; what is yours is which house your star is in.
The star itself comes from the year of birth alone, so it needs neither a time nor a place, and a January birth belongs to the year before, since the Ki year turns at Li Chun.

Which years are 6 Heaven?
1967, 1976, 1985, 1994, 2003, 2012, 2021 and 2030, each from Li Chun, around 4 February, to the next. The stars run backwards through the years, nine to one, so the same star returns every ninth year.

Is 6 Heaven a good star?
The tradition does not rank the nine. Each has a character and a shadow, both on this page, and each passes through all nine houses in turn, so every star has its quiet year and its visible one.
